Japan to ease restrictions on US beef

Posted: 01/29/13 08:55

Japan is easing some restrictions on U.S. beef. The Agriculture Department says Japan will allow beef shipments to come from cattle up to 30 months old instead of up to 20 months. Younger cattle are believed to be less likely to be carrying mad cow disease. American consumers could end up paying more for beef if the change leads to higher demand overall.
