National unemployment drops

The latest numbers from the Labor Department show the job market may be picking up. The number of Americans seeking unemployment fell 22,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 344,000. The department says the four-week average of applications dropped 6,750 to 355,000 -- the first drop in three weeks.
Statewide Nebraska as of last December’s report was sitting at 3.7 percent umemployment, Kearney is 1 percent below that at 2.7, While Hastings at 3.5% slightly edges Grand Island at 3.7%.
