University of Nebraska President J.B. Milliken is pleased with action by the legislative Appropriations Committee to budget the amount needed for the university to hold tuition steady on its four campuses for the next two years.
Milliken says the university reached agreement with Governor Heineman; higher state funding in exchange for a freeze on tuition. The Appropriations Committee, at first, didn't go along with the agreement the governor struck. It initially budgeted for a 36-Million dollar increase in the university's funding. It now recommends a 60-point-5 Million-dollar increase, a four percent increase.
