Loper Women 8th at MIAA Golf|
Aly Seng shot a one under par 71 to lead Central Oklahoma to a day one lead at the MIAA Women’s Golf Championships in Smithville, Mo.
Seng was the only player under par on the morning as her teammate Erica Bensch currently sits second after shooting a three over par 75 for the round. Northwest Missouri’s Cassic Lowell, Northeastern State’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick and Central Oklahoma’s Taylor Neidy all sit tied for third on the leader board with a four over 76 on the day. Northeastern State’s McCandren Lewis is currently in sixth place after shooting a six over par 77 for the morning.
Alex Koch, also of Northeastern State and Missouri Western’s Natalie Bird came into the clubhouse with a 78 tally. Rounding out the top ten were Central Oklahoma’s Katie Bensch and Northeastern State’s Whitney McAteer who finished in 79 strokes.
In the team standings UCO holds a nine stroke edge over their nearest competitor shooting a 301 as Northeastern State finished with a 310 on the day. Northwest Missouri sits in third place, 14 strokes behind the RiverHawks after shooting a 324.
The women will begin round two tomorrow with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. from Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. All pairings for tomorrow’s women’s round can be found at www.themiaa.com.
