Lexington police chase ends in deadly accident|
Authorities say a vehicle chase in Lexington quickly ended when the chased vehicle rammed into a pickup, killing the truck's driver. Patrol Capt. Jim Parish said that the chase began at 11:57 p.m. Monday night and ended six minutes later. Parish says the trooper noticed the first vehicle violate a traffic signal and tried to pull over the vehicle. It raced north on U.S. Highway 283 but soon rammed into the pickup. Destry Swartz, of Coats, Kan., is charged with vehicular homicide and other crimes. Swartz and a 17-year-old Lexington boy with him were not injured. The name of the driver killed in the pickup has not been released.
