Adams County Lutheran Education FIRE Banquet

The annual FIRE event, sponsored by the Adams County Lutheran Education Association, will be held Saturday, March 2 at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings, Neb.

FIRE, which stands for Faithfully Investing in Religious Education, is the yearly fundraising banquet to benefit the two Lutheran schools in Adams County.

The evening begins with an elegant formal meal at 6:30 pm, entertainment, and a silent and live auction. The live auction, the highlight of the night, includes various items such as jewelry, Husker football tickets, a trip to the Colorado Rockies, a backyard barbecue, furniture, a Herb Mignery statue, and much more. Several hundred items are expected for the live and silent auctions.

The cause is a real commitment to Zion Lutheran School in Hastings and Christ Lutheran School in Juniata, and helps those schools with a variety of costs. “FIRE is a source of needed supplemental dollars that underwrites and expands the curricular capabilities of Zion Lutheran and Christ Lutheran schools,” said Dr. Roger Doerr, past keynote speaker for FIRE and Professor of Business Administration and Economics at Hastings College. “FIRE is one of the most exciting and dynamic fund raising endeavors born. It’s a great evening of dining, fellowship, live and silent auctions, and it all goes to support these two wonderful schools.”

Each year, monies raised are divided between Christ Lutheran School, Juniata, and Zion Lutheran School, Hastings. In the past seven years, over $600,000 has been raised through private donations and the FIRE banquet. The schools use monies raised for scholarships, technology and curriculum upgrades, and other needed improvements.

Tickets for FIRE are limited to 500 and usually sell out quickly. They are on sale at Christ Lutheran School, Zion Lutheran School, and Ruhter Auction in Hastings. For more information, call 402.463.8565 or visit
