Loper Men's Basketball Adds to Class|
Nebraska-Kearney co-head menís basketball coaches Tom Kropp and Kevin Lofton announced today that Delquan Thomas will suit up for the Lopers next year.
The 6-2, 210 lbs., native of Louisville, Ky., is capable of playing the point and on the wing. He has two years of eligibility remaining after starring at Southeast C.C. in Beatrice the past two winters.
Last week, UNK added transfers Conner Beranek (Doane), Zach Clemens (Western Nebraska C.C.) and Trey Moore (Western Nebraska C.C.), along with high school senior Cory Frank (McFarland, Wisc.), to the 2013-14 roster.
This past season for the Storm, Thomas earned second-team NJCAA All-American honors as he averaged 18.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Shooting 47% percent from the field, Thomas had two games of over 30 points and helped the Storm go 16-14.
As a freshman, Thomas earned all-district and all-league honors after leading Southeast in scoring (13.4), assists (3.2) and steals (2.6) while ranking second in rebounds (6.9).
At Eastern High, he was regarded as one of the better prep players in Louisville. Averaging 13.1 points as a junior, Thomas helped the Eagles win a regional title the year and make a Sweet 16 appearance in the Kentucky state tournament.
UNK expects to add some more players later this week.
