Loper Baseball Has Work To Do in MIAA|
Lopers Start Year at Former RMAC Rival
Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney baseball team is picked 12th in the 2013 MIAA preseason poll.
Head coaches vote on the makeup of the poll.
The Lopers tallied 62 points to come in right behind Northeastern State (64) and NW Missouri State (75).
Three-time defending MIAA champion Central Missouri is the overwhelming favorite again as the Mules received 196 points and 14 of the 15 first place nods. Missouri Western State (175; one first place) and Emporia State (160) were tabbed second and third, respectively.
Last year, UNK went 18-33 (17-23) to place fifth in the RMAC. The Lopers return most of its everyday lineup, including All-American right fielder Brian Wuest (Prosper, Texas) and All-Region catcher Chandler Klute (Kearney H.S.).
Senior Adams Peters (Lincoln SW) and junior Ethan Poulsen (Longmont, Colo.) combined for seven wins last spring and are the most experienced returning pitchers.
UNK starts the regular season on Tuesday, February 12th at Metro State in Denver.
