Broncos Fall in GPAC Tournament

Fremont - The Hastings College men's basketball team really needed a win to possibly secure a spot in the NAIA National Tournament but Midland had other ideas shooting lights out defeating the Broncos 84-60 in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday night.

Hastings attempted both man-to-man and zone but had no answer for the Warriors' long range shooting. Midland connected on 11-17 from behind the three-point line including going 8-12 in the first half.

Hastings also had trouble holding onto the ball turning it over 26 times.

The Broncos were led by Brady Lollman as he finished with 11 points on 3-10 shooting while Jake Hamburger added 10.

Midland had four players with at least 14 points and were led by Galen Gullie as he finished with a game high 19 points on 6-9 shooting but really made his mark from behind the three-point line connecting on 5-6 attempts.

With the loss, Hastings falls to 20-11 (11-9) and will now have to wait to see if they make the national tournament. The selection show will be held February 27 at 7:15 p.m. as it will be streamed by NeuLion and can be found at www.naia.org.
