The Lark seeks grant for development
Posted: 06/12/12 08:11 The Lark, which will be the new home for the Listening Room upon completion, moved forward with their plans to pursue a community development block grant from the State Economic Development Corporation. Robin Harrell spoke to the City Council last night to give an update on the work being done to convert the vacant historic structure into an arts and cultural center. Besides the new home for the Listening Room, Harrell plans on broadening the musical spectrum to include, small theatre productions, dances, culinary events and art shows. Hastings Economic Development Director Dave Rippe said that Community Development Block Grants are given to the state from the federal government and handed to cities for projects like this. The Lark located on Second Street has been home to “The Golden Rule” Department store and more recently Hastings Piano Company. |
