Potential bomb threat issued outside Deb Fischer's Lincoln office|
A potential bomb scare at US Senator Deb Fischer's office in Lincoln yesterday turned out to be a false alarm. Staffers reported spotting a suspicious package outside the senator's office in the Haymarket district. It was actually a bag, sitting on a chair right under the U.S. Senate emblem. The bomb squad from the Lincoln Fire Department responded and streets were blocked off for 20 minutes or so. What was in the bag? Just somebody's garbage, apparently, a couple of envelopes and a metal can. Still, officials say they'd rather check out these reports than have someone ignore what could be a deadly threat.
