The Nebraska-Kearney menís golf team shot a 36-hole total of 651 to finish 12th at the Lindenwood Invitational Tuesday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo.
The 14-team tournament began Monday at the par 72 Whitmoor C.C. Twelve MIAA schools took part as well as Division II Henderson State (Ark.) and NAIA member Missouri Baptist.
UNK had efforts of 320 and 331 to come in ahead of Southwest Baptist and Henderson. The host Lindenwood Lions fired a 296 on Tuesday to rally past five teams into first place (606). Central Missouri (610), Northeastern State (614) and Central Oklahoma (615) rounded out the top four.
Wood River senior Kris Koelzer tied for 26th place (158/76-82) to lead the Lopers. UCM's Cy Moritz tied teammate Robby Hughey for first (two over par 146) but took home medalist honors thanks to a tiebreaker.
Also for the Lopers, Florida freshman Michael Colgate was 38th (161), North Platte Jordan Arensdorf was 53rd (164) and Kearney freshman Tyler Dowling came in 66th (169). Norfolk junior Lance Lawson carded only a first round score (83) and thus didn't place.
